AMGRAF and APEX Everett

In 2022, the Carswell Family created the American Graffiti & Urban Art Conservation Project, a non-profit 501c3 museum, with the intent to share The DogTown Collection through tours, community programming and events, and design installations for the world stage all to tell the story of the graffiti subculture and its artists. The AMGRAF museum is located on the third floor in the APEX building.

 

AMGRAF’s museum and educational initiatives offer a distinct platform for showcasing the world’s largest graffiti and urban art collection. As urban art gains attention globally, AMGRAF’s presence will generate international interest in the Collection, serving as a beacon for cultural exploration and artistic expression. By fostering collaboration, AMGRAF plays a crucial role in elevating the profile of Everett and Snohomish County, stimulating tourism and nurturing a vibrant artistic community. Ultimately, AMGRAF’s significance lies in its ability to unite diverse communities, celebrate artistic diversity and inspire the next generation of artists, making it an indispensable asset for the local region and the artists it represents.

 

The third floor of APEX belongs to AMGRAF and much of the income needed to operate and sustain the museum and facilitate programming will be generated by rental fees from events hosted in Kings Hall, the 800-capacity event venue, in The Gatsby Room. The APEX team isfilling the third floor with entertainment, weddings and other events to help generate much-needed AMGRAF income, as well as community excitement. The potential income AMGRAF could generate from third-floor event rentals is upwards of $300,000 year, which would be used to hire and retain staff, create programs, host its own events to showcase and grow The Collection.

KINGS HALL SOUND SYSTEM

Kings Hall is the grand entertainment venue where national, regional and local acts perform to crowds up to 800 people. Vibrant canvases of graffiti art line the walls and the room is undoubtedly the heart of the AMGRAF museum and its sustainability. We opened the room in 2023 to a packed house for Hell’s Belles, danced many nights to the beats spun by our area’s hottest DJs, and rocked to Flock of Seagulls on Halloween. In 2024, we've already hosted The Haggard Brothers during The Everett Stampede, and we’re excited again to host Fisherman’s Village Music Festival’s Mainstage in May.

 

The Kings Hall Soundsystem project is the auditory heartbeat of APEX Everett. Your sponsorship of this state-of-the-art audio system will elevate the quality of entertainment and ensure unforgettable experiences for our audiences. AMGRAF PROGRAMS

The American Graffiti & Urban Art Conservation Project is our 501c3 museum located on the third floor. The museum showcases The DogTown Collection, the world's largest collection of graffiti on canvas. AMGRAF's mission is to preserve this uniquely American art form, and by leading tours, creating programs for teens and adults and through events, AMGRAF raises awareness of the historic significance of graffiti and its artists who risked life, limb and freedom to find their voice and be seen since the 1960s. Although events in Kings Hall help underwrite operating expenses, individual sponsorships and sustaining donations provide the opportunity to keep our programming and tours free.
